World’s Oldest Person, Maria de Jesus, Dies at 115

Just five weeks ago Maria de Jesus of Portugal was declared the world’s oldest person but on Friday she passed away at the age of 115-years-old.

Maria de Jesus took the title of world’s oldest person on November 26 when Edna Parker died and now with the passing of de Jesus the title falls to Gertrude Baines of the United States who was born April 6, 1894.

According to reports de Jesus began working in agriculture at the age of 12 and never went to school. She eventually married and had six children.
