Michael Douglas is being sued by his ex-wife Diandra Douglas over profits from his ‘Wall Street’ sequel. Diandra claims that she should get a share of the profits as part of her divorce settlement awarded with the aid of her divorce attorney. She claims she is owed half of his profits of works started while they were married and the ‘Wall Street II’ qualifies as such. The couple was married for 23 years before divorcing in 2000.
Diandra is relentless about trying to get more money despite the $51 million that she was awarded in the original settlement over ten years ago. Her divorce lawyers are also claiming she is owed money from Michael because he misled the court about his residence. Michael stated he lived in Bermuda but has a residence in New York; he is suffering from throat cancer and his doctors are in the city. The matter hasn’t been settled yet.
Divorce can turn ugly because often one or both parties can feel jilted and want revenge. Emotions ride high especially for the person being left even after many years as you see in Diandra’s case. Celebrities have many assets and interests to protect and need very competent divorce attorneys. Michael Douglas is a wealthy man it seems as though his ex-wife still wants a piece of his fortune. Diandra doesn’t seem to think dragging her very ill ex-husband to court eleven years after their original divorce is unscrupulous.
