Pakistani Diplomat Wounded in Attack in Nepal

An official of the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal was shot Thursday morning while riding a motorcycle to work. CNN reports Mehboob Asif, a visa assistant, was shot 8 to 10 times by two people on motorcycles. No arrests have been made and the motive for the attack is unclear.

“The Embassy of Pakistan is confident that the Government of Nepal would undertake investigations at appropriate levels to bring the criminals to justice," the Pakistan Embassy said in a statement.

Asif is being treated at an unnamed hospital. About 150 people are being held for questioning by Kathmandu authorities. No other details were released.
