Tea Party Favorite ‘Atlas Shrugged’ Hits Theatres

By: Daun Lee

The infamous novel ‘Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand about a society where the government has gotten too big has been hailed The Tea Party. The novel which came out in the fifties focuses on entrepreneurs who see their efforts hindered by an overreaching government. The theory behind Rand’s novel is objectivism, a principle in which businesses are allowed to operate without government regulations and taxation. The Tea Party movement hopes more people will get with their program after watching the film, which has had lackluster reviews from film critics.

Idealistically, speaking allow businesses to run without regulation may be preferred by  the Tea Party but imagine a worlds where businesses are allowed to pollute the environment at will with no regulations, or world where businesses are allowed to operate without paying their share of income taxes. Any individual who paid less than their share of taxes would have to hire a tax attorney.

Fair taxation is a desirable state to be in but the many regulations that gives businesses that make huge profits like GE but don’t pay income tax is the very system that Rand and The Tea Party are opposed to.

The tax deadline is approaching and many small businesses may find themselves unable to pay their bill, in that case they may need a tax lawyer to help them in the situation. Some regulations keep the people free from exorbitant tax bills and harm that an unregulated corporation could cause. For people who struggle to pay their yearly tax bills heavy fines are levied against them but a tax attorney may be able to reduce their debt.
