28 Injured in Suicide Bombing at Mosque in Indonesia

A suicide attack at a mosque in West Java, Indonesia on Friday injured 28 people, authorities said. The bomber was the only person killed in the explosion. Witnesses say the man entered the mosque during prayers and found a seat among the worshipers before detonating his explosives.

The mosque is located inside a police compound in the city of Cirebon. Police spokesman Anton Bachrul Alam said police officers were likely targeted because they “have been the most active in fighting terrorism.”

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. It is the first suicide bombing in Indonesia in two years.
