Indonesia Rocked by 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake, Tsunami Warning Issued

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has rocked Indonesia and led to a tsunami warning being issued by the local geophysics agency.

Countries bordering the Pacific Ocean have been warned to remain on alert for a tsunami after the earthquake struck southwest of Manokwari, West Papua just after 4:43 a.m. Sunday (3:43 p.m. ET Saturday).

In 2004 an earthquake in the Indian Ocean spawned a tsunami that left more than 225,000 people dead with Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand hardest hit.
