Reese Witherspoon "didn't have to think" before accepting Jim Toth's marriage proposal.
The 'Water for Elephants' actress - who married the Hollywood agent last month - was absolutely certain she wants to spend the rest of her life with Jim and didn't hesitate in agreeing to get engaged.
She said: "I knew he was The One all right. A clue was when he asked me to marry him and I said yes right away. Didn't have to think about it. It just feels like the right thing at the right time in my life."
Reese - who has two children Ava, 11, and seven-year-old Deacon from her previous marriage with actor Ryan Phillippe - liked Jim from when she first met him but says the pair can't agree on who pursued who at the beginning of their relationship.
She said: "I always thought he was a really nice guy. And then he asked me out on a date and I still thought he was a really nice guy. Of course, it's always debatable who courted who isn't it? He tells me, 'You courted me.' And I'm like, 'What are you talking about, you courted me!' "
However, their ability to joke with each other is what Reese loves about her new husband.
She said: "We have the best time together. We literally laugh all the time and it's great. We just have a very nice, easy relationship. You know how you get that sort of great feeling when it's all working out?"
