Oklahoma City Thunder Down Denver Nuggets in Close Game
The Oklahoma City Thunder's stars showed up to play last night against the Denver Nuggets. Kevin Durant (41) and Russell Westbrook (31) combined to score 72 points in what many have been calling the best matchup of the playoffs. The game ended 107-103 in favor of the Thunder.
The game did not end without controversy. With just over a minute remaining a Westbrook jumpshot hit the rim and was tipped in by Kendrick Perkins. The Nuggets players thought that the tip was basket interference and should be called off. Their coach George Karl agreed saying, "Obviously it was goaltending" and saying that it was very obvious the ball never left the cylinder asking of the refs "How can't you see that."
The Nuggets must move on though and hope to contain the Thunder stars better. The Nuggets were led by Nene who had 22 points and eight rebounds on the night. Since trading away Carmelo Anthony the Nuggets have used a well rounded attack with a number of different scorers and don't rely on any one player to score all their points.
After the tip-in Nuggets' Kenyon Martin missed a jumpshot from the left wing that would have taken back the lead, but the miss led to another Thunder basket, pushing the lead to three at 104-101.
With 12 seconds in the game Raymond Felton missed a three point shot to tie. The Thunder shot foul shots the rest of the night.
