High School Football: Tajh Boyd, Bryce Brown Lead East in U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Tajh Boyd and Bryce Brown led the East team to a 30-17 victory in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday.

Boyd, the only uncommitted quarterback in the game, completed 7 of 9 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns, two to Brown, in  front of 32,732 fans at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.

Brown, the Miami recruit, also rushed for a team-high 45 yards on six carries. Brown is currently ranked No. 2 by Rivals.com, while wide receiver Rueben Randle, who led the White team with a game-high seven catches for 75 yards, is No. 1.

For the White team, Christine Michael, who committed to Texas A&M during the telecast, rushed for a game-high 55 yards on seven carries.

East cornerback Justin Turner had a game-high seven tackles and an interception. Linebacker Shayne Skov had 4.5 tackles including two for loss on back-to-back goal line plays early in the first. Nico Johnson and Alex Okafor led the West with four tackles each. Vontaze Burfict forced a fumble and defensive end Sheldon Richardson had a sack.

FSU recruit Willie Downs began the game with an interception, which he took back 47 yards to score the game's first touchdown. Downs entered the game as a wide receiver, but was moved to cornerback after the roster got stacked at receiver.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the premier high school football all-American game in the United States, gathering almost 100 of the nation's top prospects.

During the game, several top-notch recruits made their college choices on the NBC telecast. William Campbell, the five-star defensive tackle from Detroit, committed to in-state Michigan, while Xavier Nixon, one of the nation's top offensive lineman, chose Florida over LSU and Miami.

All of the players who have committed will sign letters-of-intent to their respective schools on National Signing Day on February 4.

Despite the big-time commitments, several other players left the game still uncommitted, such as Randle, Dre Kirkpatrick and Devon Kennard. Randle has kept his recruiting process under wraps, but is choosing between Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Miami, LSU, Florida State and Georgia, among others.

Kirkpatrick will visit Alabama, Florida and Texas in January, but also lists Clemson, LSU and USC. Kennard, who was injured and missed the game, will decide amongst Texas, USC and Cal.
