Houston, Texas police are investigating an incident in which a loaded gun accidentally discharged at Ross Elementary School on Tuesday. The Houston Independent School District said a 6-year-old boy brought the gun to school and carried it to the lunchroom in his pocket. The gun discharged when it fell out of the child’s pocket and hit the floor.
The boy and two other kindergartners were wounded. Their parents were notified immediately. School district spokesman Jason Spencer said the children were likely hit by bullet fragments. Their wounds are not life threatening. Spencer said the parents of all other Ross Elementary School students were notified of Tuesday’s incident by a “recorded call.”
Authorities are investigating how the boy came in to possession of the gun.
