Subsidiaries of Rust -Oleum to Set up Fund for Asbestos Victims

The RPM International Inc. who manufactures Rust-Oleum products will set up a trust fund for victims of asbestos exposure who developed related ailments. Two subsidiaries of the corporation, Specialty Holdings Corp and Bondex International Inc. entered into bankruptcy last year. Over 10,000 asbestos and mesothelioma cases that pending litigation against the two companies initiated by mesothelioma attorneys. The attorneys representing the company have stated they will set up trust fund of an undetermined amount for the people exposed to the toxic carcinogen through their products.

Asbestos was present in some of the products manufactured by Bondex between 1966 and 1977. People suffering from mesothelioma, an aggressive and fatal cancer have enlisted the help of mesothelioma lawyers to access funds for their medical care. The products manufactured by Specialty Holdings included asbestos and when breathed can cause mesothelioma which attacks the lining of abdomen, heart and lungs.  Most cases of mesothelioma takes 20 to 40 years to manifest.

Victims of asbestos exposure, when represented by mesothelioma attorneys, have been able to win multi-million dollar lawsuits against the many different companies that used asbestos in their products or structures. The dangers of asbestos have been known for decades and the use of the mineral is heavily regulated in the US. Before RPM International can determine the exact amount of the trust; they would like to discover how much the typical mesothelioma victim is awarded by the courts which will dictate the exact amount of the funds.
