International Committee of the Red Cross Says Gaza Strip Facing “Full-Blown Humanitarian Crisis”

Less than two weeks after Israel began its offensive against Hamas inside the Gaza Strip the International Committee of the Red Cross has said conditions inside the region have deteriorated rapidly and Palestinians were now facing a “full-blown humanitarian crisis.”

On Tuesday an Israeli airstrike struck outside a UN-operated school and 12 Palestinians were killed, pushing the casualty total to at least 560 since Israel began its offensive 11 days ago.

Israel has said they would continue their offensive until they secure areas inside Gaza that have been used by Hamas to launch rocket attacks. On Saturday they stepped up their efforts against Hamas when they started sending ground troops into Gaza and those troops have continued to push northward, splitting Gaza in two.

The violence has left many Palestinians in Gaza without food, water , shelter and any sense of security and the Red Cross has said the military operations have clearly placed Gaza in the middle of a “major humanitarian crisis.”
