3 Afghan Police Killed in Explosion

Authorities say 3 Afghan policemen were killed in an explosion in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday. Nangarhar province governor spokesperson Ahmad Zia Abdulzal told Pajhwok Afghan News the bomb detonated inside a van carrying policeman to work in Jalalabad. Six police-academy trainers and two civilians were injured.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Last week the group claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed two police officers at a training compound in Paktia province. Two other policemen were injured.
