25 People Killed in Suspected Drone Strike in Pakistan

Two days after Pakistan issued a statement against U.S. drone strikes, a suspected drone attack killed 25 people in the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan region. Pakistani intelligence officials say four missiles hit a house occupied by insurgents. At least 25 people, including 3 women, were killed. It is unclear how many militants are among the dead.

Intelligence officials say the targeted militants were members of the Taliban. They were allegedly planning to attack coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement Wednesday condemning the use of drones. "Drone attacks have become a core irritant in the counter-terror campaign. We have repeatedly said that such attacks are counterproductive and only contribute to strengthen the hands of the terrorists,” the ministry said.
