Israel Halts Attacks to Allow Humanitarian Aid into Gaza

Israel has halted their military strikes in Gaza for three hours to allow humanitarian aid into the war-torn region.

Israeli officials have said they would make the three-hour ceasefire a daily practice in order to ensure medical attention and medical supplies can be delivered inside the Gaza Strip. While Israel has agreed to the three-hour halt in attacks Hamas has not made the same commitment.

As the fighting continues a ceasefire plan has been introduced by France and Egypt and French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said Israel and the Palestinian Authority have accepted the plan. The acceptance is not a guarantee that peace is imminent though as Hamas was not mentioned in the agreement.

Shortly after the three-hour ceasefire Israel resumed their attacks inside Gaza, launching more airstrikes and ground assaults. Israel has vowed to continue the attacks until they can neutralize Hamas attacks.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has already said Gaza is facing a “humanitarian crisis” as civilians have been left with no food or water and are in constant fear of attacks.
