Pennsylvania Boy, 12, Arrested For Trading Marijuana With Adults For Candy Near School Yard

NEW CASTLE, Pa.-- Police in New Castle Pa, say they plan to file a juvenile criminal charges against a 12-year-old George Washington Intermediate School student for possession of marijuana.

Investigators say the boy traded pot he had stolen from his stepfather's freezer for candy. The trade was suppose to go down near the school earlier this week when classmates saw the boy with the marijuana. They alerted school officials who then called police.

New Castle police chief Tom Sansone is praising those students for speaking up and speaking out against drugs. School officials also commend the students for coming forward.

Investigators say the boy admitted he brought the pot to school and was trading it with with a 20-year-old male suspect near the school. It appears this is not the first time such a trade has happened.

After securing a search warrant, police raided the boy's home and recovered six bags of marijuana hidden in the freezer apparently belonging to the father.

Police say the boy's 38-year old stepfather now faces felony drug charges and the boy was suspended from school.
