Boston College Fires Jeff Jagodzinski Following Interview with New York Jets

Boston College has fired head football coach Jeff Jagodzinski, making good on a warning concerning his interview with the New York Jets.

Jagodzinski had been told by Boston College athletic director Gene DeFilippo that if he went through with the Jets interview his position at the school would be in jeopardy. Jagodzinski went ahead with the interview on Tuesday and less than 24 hours later DeFilippo gave him the news he was being dismissed.

During a news conference following the announcement DeFilippo said “We will find somebody who really wants to be at Boston College and will be here for the length of their contract.”

Jagodznski was at BC for two seasons and the Eagles posted a 20-8 mark and played in two ACC Championship games, both ended in losses to Virginia Tech.
