Google Uses Pandas to Celebrate the Earth

By: Daun Lee

Google, probably the most popular search engine in the world has a humorous side. They like to mark significant events with animations on their search pages. Their clever animators have designed a very adorable and interactive animation to honor earth day which includes two pandas, a lion and several other creatures. Clicking on different areas of the animation makes it come alive. Birds and insects fly, the stream moves and a frog jumps among some of the other actions the animations take. They included not one but two pandas, leaving some to speculate that the panda’s also represent their new algorithm.

The Panda algorithm was utilized to improve the experience of Google searches and eliminate low-quality content, which some SEO optimization providers say have actually lowered ranks. They rolled out Panda in the US in February and just recently rolled it out worldwide in English. Some SEO optimization firms in England have seen their rankings go down despite improving content and editorial practices.

Google is the most frequently used search engine so making their searches quality is very important to them. Other search engines like Bing have used information from Google’s searches in their searches. Google will likely be the leading contender in the search engine industry for a long time to come. It is because of their importance that SEO optimization, which helps a business have a more visible presence on the internet, often works with Google and their Panda algorithm.
