Philadelphia 76ers Go on Late Run to Beat Miami Heat, Extend Series
The Miami Heat almost swept the Philadelphia 76ers and won their first playoff series after acquiring their Big Three. They were a minute and 35 seconds away from the final buzzer with a six point lead but couldn't hold on until the end.
76ers Lou Williams hit a go-ahead three pointer from the top of the arc with 8.1 seconds left to spur the team to a 86-82 victory. Less than half a minute earlier Jrue Holiday hit a three pointer of Dwyane Wade to pull the Sixers within one point of the Heat and contributed to a 10-0 to finish out the game.
The game followed a familiar pattern for the Heat this series. Get down big in the first quarter and use momentum to come back behind Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. In the second half the Heat outscored the Sixers 31-18.
After the game Wade said that Williams' shot was not the shot that beat them, referencing the Heat's 39% shooting, going 5-23 from three point range and only getting 16 points from the bench.
The 76ers got even scoring from their players. Both Evan Turner and Williams scored 17 with Andre Iguodala adding 16 and Elton Brand contributing 15 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Heat James had 21 points and Wade had 22. The last member of the Big Three, Bosh, scored 12 but had two blocks late in the game that should have ended the Sixers chances. After the two blocks James hit a jumper for a 80-76 lead and the gamed seemed to be in control.
In the last minute, as the Sixers clawed back, James and Wade both missed shots that could have pushed the Heat to victory. The misses allowed the Sixers' run to take shape and become the deciding factor in the game.
