Lauryn Louise Last, 16, Charged with Drowning Infant in Toilet

A 16-year-old girl has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder in the drowning death of an infant believed to be her son. Lauryn Louise Last is accused of drowning an infant boy in a toilet and throwing his body in a trash can. The Port Angeles teen is being held in jail on $500,000 bail.

An affidavit filed Monday says Last “put her baby face down into a toilet and allowed it to drown for several minutes until it died. Then she threw her son into the trash can outside in a plastic garbage bag.” Washington authorities found the infant’s body Monday at a dump site. DNA testing is being performed to confirm that the child is Last’s.

Last’s father, Ronald Last Jr., has been charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a methamphetamine and concealing a birth, a gross misdemeanor.

Lauryn Last’s arraignment is set for Friday. If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.
