UN Suspends Aid Operations in Gaza after Worker Killed by Israeli Tank Fire

The United Nations has suspended their aid operations in Gaza after a truck driver was killed and two more workers were injured after being hit by Israeli tank fire.

After determining their operations were too dangerous the UN announced they would halt their work “until the Israeli authorities can guarantee our safety and security.”

According to the UN the Israelis had been given the co-ordinates of their facilities and all their movements yet that has not protected them from strikes that have hit installations and now left a worker dead.

Israel has agreed to a hold a daily three-hour ceasefire at which time UN workers could provide relief to those in need of food and medical attention. Despite that agreement several agencies are saying not enough is being done to protect civilians in Gaza as more than 700 Palestinians have been killed in the attacks.

Israeli officials have continued their strikes on Hamas targets within Gaza and have vowed to maintain military operations until they can be assured the militant group halts their rocket attacks in southern Israel.
