51 Hostages Rescued by Feds in Mexico

Dozens of hostages were freed Monday when Mexican federal police raided a house in the northern state of Tamaulipas. Authorities say 51 people, including 27 Mexicans, 14 Guatemalans, 2 Hondurans, 2 Salvadorans and 6 Chinese, were rescued from a house in the city of Reynosa.

The hostages told police they had been kidnapped by members of a drug cartel. In most cases, drug cartels will abduct bus travelers and hold them for ransom or force them to work.

No one was arrested in connection with Monday’s discovery. Last week, authorities arrested two men after freeing 68 hostages from a building in Reynosa.
