Results of two national presidential preference polls
undertaken from April 15 until April 25 by The Free Enterprise Nation (FEN),
and completed by 7,400 likely voters, show strong support for Donald Trump
among Republican and Independent voters and apparently weakening support for
President Obama among Democrats. The question in both polls, was, “If you had
to vote for President tomorrow, who would you vote for?”
Among Democrat voters, 68% would vote to re-elect President
Obama, while Trump was the second highest vote getter with 12%, ahead of Hillary
Clinton’s 9%.
Of Republican poll-takers, 37% chose Trump, a 4-to-1 margin
over runner-up Chris Christie (9%), and
5-to-1 over Palin, Romney, Gingrich and Bachman at 7%-8% each.
The closely-watched independent voter preferred Trump with
36% of their votes, just ahead of Ron Paul at 11% and President Obama at 10%.
Romney, Huckabee, Palin, Bachman, and Christie were all in the 5%-7% range.
"Dark
Horse" candidates include Alan West and Herman Cain who were the leaders
in write-in votes, followed by Rep. Paul Ryan. Other prospective candidates,
not on the FEN poll list, include former Governors Ron Johnson (NM) and Jon
Huntsman (Utah) who may soon be announcing their interest in running against
President Obama in 2012.
