Thursday’s earthquake in Costa Rica left 14 people dead
and another 22 missing. More than 1,200 were stranded after the 6.1 magnitude
earthquake struck, damaging buildings and causing landslides.
“Many people were injured, many buildings were damaged
and landslides blocked roads in the area,” the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Officials put the number of injured at 300 on Friday. The
quake was felt in parts of Nicaragua and throughout Costa Rica, but hit the town of Alajuela the
hardest. The remote area is difficult to reach. So far, only helicopters have
been able to get supplies to the area.
