The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has suspended Guinea from its 15-member group, declaring the suspension would hold until the military coup that seized power last month holds elections.
Guinea had already been suspended from the African Union.
Following the death of President Lansana Conte, who held power since 1984, Capt. Moussa Dadis Camara led a coup and later said he would hold elections within a year.
