NFL Playoffs Schedule: Philadelphia Eagles Travel to Face New York Giants for Spot in NFC Championship

The NFL playoffs will be down to four teams by the end of the day and in the NFC the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants will be squaring off for the third time this year for the right to face the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship next week.

After sneaking into the NFC the playoffs the Eagles had their way against the Minnesota Vikings last week and have been peeking at the right time. They have won five of their last six games and one of those wins was over the Giants at New York in Week 14.

Donovan McNabb has regained his form while Brian Westbrook remains a threat each time he touches the ball. While the offense has found its way it has been the defense that has paced the Eagles all year, ranked number one in the NFC. They have held opponents to an average of 92.3 yards on the ground this year and will need to shut down the running attack of the Giants if they are to have a chance on Saturday.

For the Giants, the last four weeks of the regular season did little to convince people they were ready to repeat as Super Bowl champions. They dropped three of those four games including their only loss at home this year, a 20-14 defeat at the hands of the Eagles.

New York has relied on the NFL’s top ranked running attack led by Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward, both eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the year. That running game opened up the passing game for Eli Manning who threw for 3238 yards and 21 touchdowns this year but he’ll be facing a Philadelphia Eagles defense that knows how to put pressure on the quarterback.
