Derrick Rose Day-to-Day With Sprained Ankle
Chicago Bulls Guard to Forgo MRI
Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, who was named the NBA MVP on Tuesday, has a sprained ankle and is considered day to day as the Bulls continue their series against the Atlanta Hawks.
Rose turned his ankle during the finals seconds of the Bulls' 103-95 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. While Rose was attempting to steal the ball, his foot landed on the back of Jamal Crawford's foot and turned. Rose hobbled off the court.
"Don't know [what happened], just came over, tried to steal the ball," said Rose. "Twisted it somehow."
Rose said that he will receive treatment for the injury "from morning to night, and then you go home, the same thing. I've got a machine I take home with me, and I just ice my foot the whole day."
Rose said that he is not worried about not being able to play in Game 2 of the Bulls series against the Hawks.
"I'm not worried about that," said Rose. "I think my body is in good hands with my trainer. They do a good job making sure I get treatment every day, all day. I should be all right.
"I'm good. I'm good. I'm getting treatment. There's no excuses right now. You got to play through injuries. Everybody has injuries probably right now through the playoffs, but they're fighting through it ... [We're] just trying to win games."
