Kobe Bryant scored 33 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Vladimir Radmanovic finished with 12 points and 6 boards and Trevor Ariza added 14 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers (31-6) past the Houston Rockets (24-16) 105-100 on Tuesday night for their fourth straight win.
Houston carried an 82-78 lead into the final frame but after a pair of jumpers from Bryant the Lakers grabbed a 97-93 lead with 3:21 left on the clock. The Rockets stayed close and Shane Battier hit a three-pointer with 47 seconds remaining to give them a 100-99 lead. Bryant answered Battier’s triple with a three of his own and LA moved in front 102-100.
Rafer Alston has a chance to even the game but missed a pair of free-throws and after Paul Gasol hit just one of two from the line the Rockets had one last shot to even the game but Yao Ming took a 16-foot jumper despite trailing by three.
Los Angeles was 18-24 from the foul line while Houston attempted just eight foul shots, hitting six.
