This past November of 2010, the DUI Foundation released the following statistics regarding alcohol addiction and dependency:
Suffice it to say, these are saddening statistics and explains the growth in the number of addiction treatment and recovery programs. Today, there is a Florida alcohol rehab program in every major city and metropolitan areas in the state.
The treatment for alcoholism is not a new concept. Alcoholism has been recognized as a debilitating disorder and disease since the late 1800’s and the AA’s 12-Step program was originally founded as a support group in the 1930’s to help recovering alcoholics. Over time, more and more addiction treatment and recovery centers have come into existence, all of which were originally established using the 12-Step program or a derivative of it. The problem today is that this is considered an ineffective and out of date therapy.
As alcohol addiction has evolved into the serious public health threat that it is today, there became a greater need for more innovative treatment and recovery therapies. The concept of an alternative Florida alcohol rehab program was not immune to this necessity and today, there are numerous addiction treatment and recovery centers that have followed suit. For all practical purposes, these alternative facilities have witnessed significantly higher success rates than what the traditional drug rehab centers have.
