Dallas Cowboys and Terrell Owens may be Parting Ways

The Dallas Cowboys, coming off a disappointing 9-7 season that left them out of the NFC playoffs, are said to be seriously rethinking their approach to the 2009 NFL season and that could mean the release of talented but controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens.

While the Cowboys were widely considered to be the most talented team at the start of the 2008 season that talent was quickly neutralized by poor chemistry that showed on the sideline and in the locker room.

Dallas has already released Pacman Jones and they will likely refrain from trying to re-sign Tank Johnson, both players were seen as detrimental to the team’s chemistry. Now the talk has turned to Owens who has been openly critical of the Cowboys offensive staff and the direction of the team.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has insisted that head coach Wade Phillips will be returning and if offensive coordinator Jason Garrett returns that could signal the end of Owens. Garrett is considered a candidate for at least two coaching vacancies and he has expressed a desire to be free from Terrell.
