U.S.
Airways flight 1549 has crashed into the Hudson River in New York shortly after
taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York en route to Charlotte, N.C.
Early
reports have suggested there were 146 passengers on board the U.S. Airways
commuter jet when it went into the Hudson River with wings level. While there has
been no official word on what brought the twin-engine jet down there is
speculation that a flock of geese may have been involved.
Rescue
workers and the New York Port Authority are currently surrounding the sinking
jet and gathering passengers, many of whom have been standing the on the wings
of the plane. Divers have been sent into the water as well.
Temperatures
in New York are currently 21-degrees making the turbulent water of the Hudson
River all the more dangerous.
