President Obama will do to Texas on Tuesday April 10, to talk about immigration reform. The President has been trying to reform the immigration laws but failed to have some key elements passed previously.
In his Texas talks the President wishes to assure residents that he has worked hard on keeping illegal immigrants out of the US by making the shared borders more secure. Approximately, 329,000 illegal immigrants were deported in the 2010 fiscal year. The number of deportations has angered Hispanic activists who are pushing for reform.
Last year Obama tried to pass the DREAM Act, which would allow children of illegal immigrants who join the military or go to college, receive citizenship status. Opposition to the DREAM Act state it is a form of asylum that encourages illegal actions.
Most people involved in the immigration debate feel as though it will be unlikely that anything will change for the time being, as future attempts have been blocked by both parties in Congress.
For people on both sides of the immigration debate, the lack of reform is frustrating and both camps are pessimistic about an effectual changes being enacted.
Illegal immigration is a serious issue for states that are most affected. To remain in the US, anyone here illegally is encouraged to contact an immigration attorney to help them obtain citizenship. Becoming a legal citizen is more advantageous for the immigrant than remaining in the country illegally. An experienced immigration lawyer will outline the laurels of citizenship along with guiding their clients through the process.
