Intelligence officials in Pakistan say two missiles likely fired by a United States drone killed three militants Tuesday. The men died when the missiles hit their vehicle while they traveled in South Waziristan. The names of the militants were not released.
The incident was the second suspected drone strike since a team of U.S. Navy Seals entered Pakistan and killed Osama Bin Laden. American officials have not officially acknowledged drone attacks. Oakistan authorities have condemned the attacks. "Drone attacks have become a core irritant in the counter-terror campaign. We have repeatedly said that such attacks are counterproductive and only contribute to strengthen the hands of the terrorists,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement last month.
