The Orchid Recovery Center Joins RAINN Online Charity Drive

The Orchid Recovery Center announced the launch of its charity drive today to raise funds for the Rape Abuse Incest National Network (RAINN). The revolutionary women’s addiction treatment program forged a partnership with RAINN through the sexual assault network’s RAINNMaker program, facilitating donors worldwide to give funds to the nonprofit organization online. As part of the addiction treatment center’s progressive, women-centric philosophy, The Orchid aims to raise $1,000 during the philanthropic effort’s initial run.

The RAINNMaker program accounts for over one-third of the nonprofit network’s funding, supporting RAINN’s 24-hour national rape crisis hotline, counseling and educational services.

“At The Orchid, we believe in bringing deep healing to women on a physical, emotional and spiritual level,” explained Julie Queler, The Orchid’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our involvement with RAINN created a natural partnership, as we both seek to empower and nurture women struggling with the aftermath of trauma.”

The Orchid’s involvement with RAINN comes as part of its targeted philanthropy program aimed at raising funds for organizations that promote women’s welfare. The treatment center caters exclusively to women, emphasizing peer involvement in trauma and addiction recovery through Dr. Karen Dodge’s acclaimed “relational growth” paradigm.

“One of our core philosophies at The Orchid is healing through community,” added Queler. “We hope to bring awareness and funding to RAINN’s indispensible efforts through the RAINNMaker program.”

The Orchid’s involvement with RAINN aligns with the Florida-based drug and alcohol treatment center’s emphasis on rape recovery as part of its specialized addiction treatment program. Strategically slated for the month of April, The Orchid’s fundraising efforts on RAINN’s behalf endeavor to bring heightened attention to the nation’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

“We see the devastation of rape and sexual assault every day in the lives of the women we treat at The Orchid,” said Queler. “Many women develop alcohol and drug addictions in attempts to self-medicate psychological distress in the wake of an assault.”

Donors can contribute to RAINN through The Orchid Recovery Center RAINNMaker website or learn more about The Orchid’s involvement in the program at Orchid Recovery supports RAINN.

The Orchid’s RAINNMaker webpage facilitates fast, online donations to RAINN and allows the public to join in the center’s efforts by leveraging their social media networks. Individuals can add the charity to their Facebook and MySpace friend networks in an effort to encourage loved ones and associates to contribute, as well (follow Orchid Recovery on Facebook).
