USC Head Coach Pete Carroll Apologizes for Demeanor at Mark Sanchez News Conference

USC head Coach Pete Carroll reportedly apologized to Mark Sanchez following Thursday’s press conference at which the junior quarterback announced his intentions to enter the NFL Draft.

At that news conference Carroll voiced his opinion that Sanchez was making a mistake by leaving early. Carroll left the conference prior to Sanchez fielding questions from reporters.

On Friday Carroll spoke with Sanchez and apologized for the negative perception that was drawn by his demeanor. Carroll extended his comments to the media ensuring that “Mark’s got all my support, always has, always will.”

Carroll felt it necessary to point out that his QB “needed to know the truth. I wasn't going to hide the facts, that would be doing Mark a disservice and would be disingenuous.”

Sanchez threw for 3,207 yards and 34 touchdowns while leading the USC Trojans to a 12-1 record and a Rose Bowl victory.
