6-Year-Old Boy Killed at Monster Truck Show after Being Hit by Flying Debris

A 6-year-old boy attending a monster truck show with his father in Washington state on Friday night was killed when debris from a truck flew into the stands and struck him.

According to witnesses attending the Monster Jam at the Tacoma Dome a truck had been doing a series of doughnuts during a freestyle competition when parts of the vehicle began breaking off. Several pieces of the truck entered the stands.

The boy’s father said his son was hit in the head by a piece of metal. A second person was struck by flying debris; the status of his injuries is unknown.

Those in attendance on Friday night said they tried to get the attention of medics after Sebastin Hizey was hit but it took some time before a response.
