Tim
Duncan scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Tony Parker added 13 points
and 10 assists and Roger Mason finished with 12 points to lift the San Antonio
Spurs (27-13) past the Charlotte Bobcats (16-25) 86-84 on Monday.
The
Spurs started off strong, building a 29-21 lead after the opening frame and
holding a 46-41 advantage at the half. San Antonio held that 6-point lead in
the first few minutes of the third quarter but the Bobcats went on a 10-0 run to
move in front 53-49 and led by as many nine points before Mason hit a big
three-pointer to get the Spurs back to within 68-63 heading into the fourth.
Charlotte
fought hard to hold the lead and clung to a 78-77 advantage before Manu
Ginobili buried a pair of three-pointers to give San Antonio an 83-78 lead with
just under three minutes left in the game. The Spurs lead was cut to two before
Parker hit a pair of free throws with 2:00 on the clock.
Raja
Bell closed the gap to 86-84 with 1:09 left in the game but the Spurs defense
came up big and Duncan blocked a Raymond Felton jumper in the closing seconds
to preserve the win.
