Friends star Matthew Perry returns to rehab

By: Daun Lee

Matthew Perry has plans to return to a drug rehab program. The actor told TMZ that he was returning to get support for his continued sobriety. Wanting to have the last word, Perry told TMZ to “Please enjoy making fun of me on the World Wide Web.”

The former Friends star spent time in rehab for prescription drug and alcohol abuse on two separate occasions, once in 1997 and again in 2001. He said he needed to take a break and re-focus on his sobriety.

Sobriety can be a near impossibility for people who have substance abuse problem and often need continuing support. People often enter into treatment facilities voluntarily but there are others that must be forced into sobriety, usually by the courts over drug or alcohol related issues like a DUI. Repeat DUI offenders typically have addiction problems.

Most states require a person with a DUI to enter in a government mandated treatment program.

Getting a DUI has severe consequences for people who are arrested. These individuals will generally require a DUI attorney to represent them in court. A DUI charge can result in a loss of driver’s license and even jail time that a DUI lawyer may be able to prevent. The dangers posed to drivers by a drunk drivers has cause the courts to be tough on DUIs and a DUI lawyer can work to minimize the impact those penalties will have on their future.
