Andy
Murray advanced to the second round at the Australian Open in Melbourne after Andrei
Pavel was forced to retire in the second set.
Murray
was up 6-2, 3-1 when Pavel called it a day, 45 minutes into their match. While
in action Murray managed two aces and produced winners on all 20 of his first
serve offering played.
Murray
was bounced out of the Australian Open in the first round last year and his
best finish in Melbourne was a fourth round appearance in 2007. While he Murray
has never won a Grand Slam singles title he did reach the U.S. Open final in
2008 where he fell to Roger Federer.
