Australian Open 2009 First Round Results: Serena Williams on to Second Round with Straight Set Win Over Meng Yuan

Serena Williams advanced to the second round at the Australian Open after taking care of China’s Meng Yuan in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

Williams struggled a bit with her serve, committing four double-faults and totaling 31 unforced errors but she produced 26 winners compared to just six for Yuan.

Williams has won nine Grand Slam singles titles including a career Grand Slam. She owns three U.S. Open titles, a French Open title, two Wimbledon titles, and three Australian Open titles. Williams only title in 2008 was a win at the U.S. Open.
