Australian Open 2009 Round Two Results: Jelena Jankovic Pushes into Third Round with Hard Fought Win Over Kirsten Flipkens

Jelena Jankovic spent a little or time than she wanted on the court but the Serb advanced to the third round after handling Kirsten Flipkens in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 in just under two hours.

Jankovic managed to convert five of eight break point opportunities to doom Flipkens. The tournament's top-seed also limited her unforced errors to 15 while taking advantage of the 38 unforced errors of Flipkens’ racket.

Despite being the world’s number one ranked women’s tennis player Jankovic has yet to win a Grand Slam singles title. She reached the semi-finals at last year’s Australian Open before falling to Maria Sharapova.
