Ivanovic continued her push to return to the Australian Open finals as she took
care of Italian Alberta Brianti in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the third
round in Melbourne.
Ivanovic
faced little adversity as the Serb dealt five aces and collected 26 winners
wile converting on 5 of 11 break-point opportunities. Brianti struggled against
Ivanovic as she committed 6 double-faults and produced just 12 winners.
Ivanovic
won her first Grand Slam singles title last year when she beat Dinara Safina at
the French Open. She has appeared in two other Grand Slam singles finals,
falling to Maria Sharapova at the Australian Open in 2008 and Justine Henin at the
French Open in 2007.
