The news of the Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger split stunned the media and the public. The couple decided to split after 25 years of marriage which left many to wonder, why?
Shriver told the media that infidelity and emotional abuse were factors. Today, Schwarzenegger announced that he fathered an illegitimate child with a household staffer over ten years ago after the story first broke in the Los Angeles Times. He revealed the truth to Shriver after he left office.
Schwarzenegger has been providing support for the child since the birth. The staffer told the LA Times that her then husband fathered the child and refused to comment when confronted by Schwarzenegger’s confession. The identity of the now retired staffer and child are being withheld to protect their privacy.
Schwarzenegger has been accused of sexual improprieties over a thirty year period by staffers and other women who appeared in his films.
