French president Nicolas Sarkozy is set to become a dad for the fourth time, his father Pal Sarkozy told to the German newspaper Bild. Pal, 82, confirmed reports his daughter-in-law, Carla Bruni Sarkozy, is pregnant with the couple’s first child together.
"Neither wants to know the gender beforehand, but I'm certain it will be a girl, and beautiful like Carla,” Pal told Bild.
Pal did not release detail on the baby’s due date. Sarkozy’s office refused to confirm or deny the reports. The president already has three sons from two previous marriages while Bruni has one son from a previous relationship.
Bruni, who appears in the new Woody Allen movie Midnight in Paris, first sparked pregnancy rumors in April when she was spotted at a Paris maternity store. She fueled speculation when she cited “personal reasons” for not attending the premiere of Midnight in Paris at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend.
