OxyContin Addiction Rehab Facility Journey Malibu Offers Individualized Methods of Treatment for Long-Term Recovery

While prescription drugs like OxyContin are intended to bring relief to individuals suffering from intense pain the reality is many of these individuals become addicted to the drugs and a new level of pain is unleashed. Addiction to OxyContin and other forms of opiates has become a growing problem within our culture and without proper treatment the door to additional addictions can quickly be opened, creating even more pain for the suffering addict and their family.

One of the greatest misconceptions surrounding OxyContin, along with other prescription medications, is that because they are prescribed by a doctor they aren’t really considered a harmful drug. The reality is OxyContin addiction is one of the most common addictions now being addressed by alcohol and drug rehab clinics. Treating OxyContin addiction at an early stage is imperative simply because almost all addicts eventually find themselves forced to turn to even more damaging opiates like heroin when they can no longer find or afford OxyContin.

At Journey Malibu a comprehensive treatment program has been designed to effectively address OxyContin addiction along with other drug and alcohol addictions. The first step in this treatment process often begins with detoxification and Journey Malibu implements a safe, gentle, medically-supervised OxyContin detoxification process that frees the body of the drug and its toxins.

Once this detoxification process has been completed the journey to recovery can truly begin and Journey Malibu carefully crafts an individualized recovery program that addresses not only the patient’s physical addiction to OxyContin but the psychological addiction to the drug as well. The program of recovery at Journey Malibu is based on a simple belief, that the whole person is treated. This means the physical as well as the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the addict is treated.

To do this individuals are exposed to individual and group counseling sessions in which they explore the root causes of their problems, while also discovering the “triggers” in their lives that may lead to further abuse of the OxyContin. Once those triggers have been identified therapists will work with the OxyContin addict to develop healthier ways to respond to the triggers – ways that will allow them to address the stress and issues in their lives without needing to use OxyContin, or any other drug. Addicts will also open up with other addicts, a critical step in forming a support network that greatly enhances the recovery process. This does not necessarily imply a 12-Step orientation, but 12-Step meetings in the community are offered for the OxyContin addict who desires to attend.

Journey Malibu knows that there is no blanket recovery program that will treat every drug addict and that is why they have adopted a belief in inclusion, keeping an open mind about what will work for an addict who is suffering. As part of this inclusionary treatment program Journey Malibu makes available:

CBT/MET/DBT

Delicious nutritional intelligence program

Because Journey Malibu recognizes that every addict’s story is different and carries unique circumstances they don’t believe in a blanket recovery program, instead they remain dedicated and focused on finding the right path for each individual entering their doors.

Set in a unique, microclimate that is only one of four in the world, Journey Malibu fosters a sense of serenity and comfort within its home. This environment is instrumental in promoting health and personal growth for the recovering alcoholic and drug addict and because Journey Malibu maintains a small, select group of guests at one time the staff is able to focus on each individual and guide them through the treatment process.
