UC Berkeley to Host Leading Educational Summer Camp in 2011

SuperCamp, the original academic and life skills summer camp, will host two sessions at UC Berkeley this summer. This marks the first academic summer camp in Berkley in SuperCamp’s history, and the latest addition to the wildly popular Northern California Summer Camp sessions.

This new venue brings the number of locations to nine where the summer academic program will have pre-teen and teen summer camps in 2011. UC Berkeley is the fourth new location for SuperCamp this year, in addition to University of South Florida, San Jose State University in Northern California and Kent State University in Ohio.

"We're very excited about adding UC Berkeley to our roster of host schools for SuperCamp," said SuperCamp president, Bobbi DePorter. "With such a rich history, UC Berkeley offers another great option for parents and students in the Northwest."

This is the 30th year that SuperCamp's educational summer camps have been providing learning and life skills training to students. In that time, over 57,000 students have graduated from the summer enrichment program, including many second-generation SuperCampers.

SuperCamp helps students improve their grades through new learning skills that include learning how to learn. Students also gain an understanding of their dominant learning style, which helps them achieve greater success when they return to school.

The 7- and 10-day SuperCamp curriculum also includes life skills instruction in such areas as communication, leadership, critical thinking, character development, and problem solving. These life skills enable students to gain confidence, motivation and self-esteem, which is reflected in better school grades, improved peer group and family relationships, and a more goal-oriented focus on the future.

The popularity of SuperCamp's programs combined with the appeal of the camp locations all but guarantee that the programs will fill up well before summer, so Ms. DePorter urges interested families to look into SuperCamp immediately to ensure their first choice in schools and dates.  In addition, to celebrate the new location SuperCamp is offering special savings for those who enroll in the UC Berkeley Senior Forum session.  But act now as the camps are quickly filling.
