Ohio worker involved in industrial accident

By: Daun Lee

A young man who worked at the Eylria Foundry got his arm trapped in a piece of large machinery and had to be flown to a Cleveland medical facility for treatment.

Emergency personnel responded to a call at 7:45 this morning and spent 36 minutes trying to free Chris Bolin from the equipment. While attempting to clean the equipment Bolin got pinned up to his shoulder.  The firemen were working in close quarters, which made the extraction difficult and had to use hydraulic rescue equipment, wedges and airbag’s to free the trapped worker. Bolin was airlifted to the hospital at 8:30 and is recovering from his injuries.

The extent of Bolin’s injuries isn’t known at this time.

Accidents in the workplace are a fact of life. In the US, approximately 4.1 million people are injured on the job. OSHA imposes regulations to protect workers, but can’t prevent all injuries. Of those who are injured, close to 2 million workers must miss time from work to recover, according to accident lawyers.

The costs of medical treatment along with the missed wages can wreck a person’s finances. In some cases a worker can become permanently disabled or lose their lives. The employee that was injured because of negligence should meet with an accident attorney to determine if they qualify for compensation. Accident victims and decedent’s families deserve to be reimbursed for costs associated to their injuries, and an accident lawyer will work to make that a reality.
