Elena
Dementieva bounced back from a rough opening round match at the Australian open
and took care of business in the second as she cruised past Iveta Benesova in
straight sets 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the third round.
While
Dementieva won there is plenty the Russian would like to improve on as she
committed 5 double faults and put just 51 percent of her first serves in play.
Fortunately for Dementieva she was able to take advantage of Benesova’s
inability to establish any consistency in her service game.
Dementieva
has yet to capture a Grand Slam singles title but has reached the finals at the
U.S. Open and French Open in 2004.
