Actress Rosie Perez filed a lawsuit against the company who produces Law & Order: SVU. According to the Lawsuit Perez 46, was injured during filming for the show in 2009.
Perez has suffered from neck injuries since the taping, and has undergone surgery to correct the issues and alleviate the pain. During the scene an actor had to pull Perez off another actress she was having a scuffle with. She had to do multiple takes of the scene. The lawsuit accuses the show’s producers of “recklessly and carelessly failing to provide skilled performers or hire stunt personnel.” The amount of the damages being sought have not been disclosed but is a significant amount.
Perez hasn’t been able to work in “quite a while,” according to her attorney. She had to turn down a November performance of “A Free Man of Color” at the Lincoln Center last November because of her injuries.
