Dallas Mavericks Playoff Win Streak Stopped by Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night to end Dallas's six game playoff win streak. The Thunder played as a team and made a run in the fourth quarter to narrowly tin the game 106-100. The Thunder played four bench players and Kevin Durant with a slim margin and went on a 14-5 run to take a ten point lead with 3:15 left in the game. The Thunder have stolen home court advantage from the Mavs as they head to Oklahoma City for game three of the series.
Kevin Durant and James Harden did the majority of the damage in the game scoring 24 and 23 points respectively. Backups Eric Maynor, Daequan Cook and Nick Collison chipped in as well with solid performances of 13, eight and six points of the bench.
Harden made the difference in the fourth missing only one of his five shots and sinking two three point shots. "We've got 10 guys that can play. We don't lose confidence when other guys are in the game," said Collison after the game.
Kevin Durant's scoring wasn't as furious as the first game in the series but Russell Westbrook, who often shoulders the blame, was not at fault. He scored 18 points shooting just under 50% on 15 shots as Jason Kidd stepped up his defense on Durant.
Nowitzki cooled down from his game one performance as well scoring 29 points in the game. Tyson Chandler added 15 points and 13 rebounds and Jason kid put up 14 points and seven assists. The Mavericks lost the game on the defensive end of the court allowing the Thunder to beat them by shooting over 50% from the field.
The Thunder again avoided losing consecutive games in the playoffs with the win. Game three will take place on Saturday night in Oklahoma City.
